Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world and it’s a working-age population projected to double by 2040. With a total population of around 45 million, the Ugandan population is comprised of a high and increasing cohort of young people.
It is estimated that over a million young people are entering the job market in Uganda each year. There are not enough decent jobs available, which has already led to high unemployment and, in particular, underemployment of youths in Uganda.
We believe that personal development and education are the way to end poverty and we are advocating this and a better future for youth in Uganda through all the activities and projects we do.
RUFODE engages the youth in the fight against climate change. Both adaptation and mitigation are important for addressing climate change and will likely be necessary to address the full range of its impacts. This involves taking action to reduce the negative effects of climate change and to cope with the changes that are already happening or are expected to happen. It can also involve things like planting trees, which absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
RUFODE works to motivate, unify and empower Ugandan youth to be drivers of Africa’s social, political and economic transformation. We encourage young people to assert their power in numbers, energy and imaginations to transform Uganda to be a beacon of hope.
RUFODE works to equip the youth with relevant media skills to promote freedom of expression and widen access to information to increase their participation in decision making processes.
